The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

The recent news about Warren Buffet and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation reminded me of a comment I made to a colleague a couple months ago. I said, "In thirty years, no one will remember that Bill did MS DOS or Windows. They won't remember that he was a hard charging Chief Executive who standardized desktop computing and a monopolist that often stretched the bounds of fair competition. They won't even think of him in the context of Microsoft. Instead, what they will remember will be the Gates Foundation... and Bill, the philanthropist." More...
