Once the cabbage was on the stove and the chicken in the oven, we began a discussion and tour of facilities. We have a few design challenges relating to road access. Fortunately we also have one of the most talented designers I know on our team.

After a brief break, we held the Board Meeting. Actually lunch had been scheduled to be served before the meeting ... but you can’t rush chicken.

After the Board Meeting and lunch, we walked through a demo of the firm’s Technology Infrastructure. Today was the first time most in the group were able to see the new cloud based platform. There is still much work to do before May, but spacially browsing information was very cool.

We finished the day with Marketing in Chicago via web conference. I thought the new CRM system was beautiful, but our Marketing lead suggested I never say the words CRM and beautiful in the same sentence again.

There were two very serious topics discussed at that session:

1. A decision to never mention client names in Marketing materials, and
2. A decision to never bill by the hour.

I’ll cover our thoughts on both at a later date.
